(I am typing this on my phone so I beg your pardon on the dramatic errors I am about to make.)
In this week between la navidad and the frolicking fat guy in a diaper (No, not Baby New Year. I wish. Every year on Dec 31st my neighbor Stashu Buczek slams a bottle of peppermint schnapps, strips to his skivvies and frolicks through the hallways of my building) anyway, this week I have been seeing a lot of top ten lists for '09 and I figured I better crank out one of my own. So here are just some of my top favorite moments from 09:
10. Seeing multiple rocking reviews for my clients in everything from EW to PW
9. Co-leading a mystery writer's workshop with Molly Voot named: From Cozy to Carnage.
Dude, we rocked that workshop.
8. Waking up at 6 am at the conference in South Carolina to run on the beach with Jeff Kleinman. (He ran BAREFOOT for like 6 miles!) and we didn't even gossip ONCE! I don't know what was more exhausting, the miles or the personal restraint.
7. Chilling in Janet Reid's kerjillion dollar hotel suite at SC and unleashing all of the gossip I had so valiently held in on that morning's run.
6. When I was on the tarmac at LGA heading to the concerence in Wisconsin and the pilot held our position so we could all watch Sully take to the skies on his first flight since the Hudson Landing. I haven't felt that patriotic since I bought the jaeger shots for those Marines.
5. This exchange between myself and Polly Woot:
Me: (rushing up and grabbing her arm and hissing) We have to leave. We have to leave right now.
Polly: What?!? No!
Me: Seriously, we have to go now. Like, RIGHT now. We have to leave. Right now.
Polly: Poelle, has anyone been injected with an illicit substance?
Me: No.
Polly: Is any of the art missing?
Me: No.
Polly: Then we're staying.
4. Receiving business cards from Amy Lindel that have the image of a shark and the single line, "You've been Poelled".
3. Selling the inaugural book to Ali at Tyrus.
2. Reaching every one of my sales goals BUT ONE before December 1st.
1. Writing this blog every Tuesday.
Wow, when I was doing this list I realized I have about 100 top memories from 09. I would love to hear one of your favorite industry related memories from 09.
See you next year!!!
(Next week I will still be on vacay, so I might make Inga type up our New Year's resolutions. Get ready to tell me yours)
