So ... OPEN THREAD!
Here's the thing: I can't think of a single topic for today. I mean, I can think of lots of topics, sure, but they're all only sort-of half-formed, and mostly start like, "Oh, I should write about that movie I just watched, and how I can't decide if I liked it or not, but I think I did, but maybe I didn't?"
Yeah, no one wants to read that. (The movie, btw, was Spartan. I think I'm on a "liked it" swing right now. Maybe, in fact, it was really great?)
But, rather than debate Val Kilmer's unironic line delivery in that movie ("In the city, there's reflections. In the jungle, there's noises." "What about the desert?" "Oh, you don't want to go to the desert."), I thought I'd open this up to you, our dear readers.
Have questions for me? I'll check back throughout the day in the comments, and address simple questions there.
Have topics you'd like me to cover more in-depth? Leave suggestions! I'll happily add them to my list of percolating blog posts.
Have some BSP you want to get out in front of some more people? Maybe your book comes out in June, and you'd like to drum up some preorders. Maybe you have a really great backlist deal you'd like to highlight. Perhaps you're taking on new publicity clients? Or maybe there's a specific kind of submission you're after in the new year? Or you might have some new reviews up, and are eager to share them with readers? It could be that your store has an excellent sale coming up in February ...
Whatever it is, please feel free to share in the comments.
I have some fun news, too.
Tyrus Books has announced four of our seven titles for Fall 2010! We're announcing titles on a weekly basis on our podcast, Tuesdays With Tyrus. (You don't need an iPod or iTunes to tune in, just follow the link! Though if you prefer, you can certainly find us in the podcast section of iTunes and subscribe.)
So far, we've got:
INNOCENT MONSTER, the sixth Moe Prager book, by Reed Farrel Coleman. Yeah, you read that right. Moe is BACK. And it is beautiful.
DEAD DECEIVER, the eleventh(!) Loon Lake mystery, by Victoria Houston. Set in the winter, Victoria is always great at making me shiver while I read!
THE WIND KNOT, the fourth Fly Fishing mystery, by John Galligan. This series, compared to Faulkner in Publishers Weekly, continues to break my heart, in a good way.
YOUNG JUNIUS, by Seth Harwood. Oh yeah, the master of the free book podcast has brought his popular six-foot-tall ruffian over to Tyrus. Details forthcoming for a special, unique hardcover, available to preorder on Palm(s) Sunday.
And we have three more titles yet to announce! Stay tuned to our website, sign up for our newsletter, listen to our podcast, or follow us on Twitter to get all the latest.
Also, in personal news, I am officially betrothed. Let the wedding planning madness begin!
