October is finally here and you know what that means: Halloween! By far, my favorite holiday. Sure, now people give me weird looks when I attempt to trick-or-treat (no one said there's a cut-off age!) but there are plenty of other ways to spend the holiday. And since I assume all of us are total book nerds, here are a few suggestions:
- Turn off all the lights, light candles, and read the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe
- Head over to Jenn's Bookshelves and participate in her month long "Scarefest"
- Read old Stephen King books, then watch their movie counterparts (and of course complain about how much better the books are)
- Grab a stack of Kensington novels and read serial killer thrillers all weekend.
- Dress up like your favorite character from a horror novel and scare all the little kids who knock on their door
- Instead of giving vampire-costumed trick or treaters candy, hand out Charlaine Harris novels
- Re-read your collection of Ann Rice novels (also by candlelight).
Feel free to leave your other Literary Halloween suggestions! Happy October!
