So, you’ve got a long weekend, I’ve got a short attention span, and I’ve got a micro challenge for you.
I often talk about how I know I’m going to love a book based on the strength of some obscenely small sample—usually the first few paragraphs. I also say that I can’t always articulate what it is that works (in the abstract), but I know it when I see it. From there, when I have a living, breathing example, I can kinda string together a coherent defense of what it is that I love.
Let’s put that in practice.
For those of you on Twitter, put together your best opening in one single tweet. Use the hashtag #hdgc. That leaves you with something like 134 characters. Doesn’t matter if it gets cut off in the middle of the word. I'll know.
Or at least I think I'll know.
If you have questions, ask me here or on Twitter (@tyrusbooks).
3, 2, 1, go!
