Another eventful week. Today it’s been hard to even capture a moment to reflect on anything and keep my thoughts straight. Ed McMahon passed on Wednesday. Thursday Farrah lost her fight to cancer, then Michael Jackson died. All bring mixed feelings as the passing of celebrities often does. Kind of puts things in perspective.
I think Farrah hit me the hardest. My initial reaction was simply sadness. She was an icon of my youth, yet wasn’t at all old. I wondered what she might have done differently if she’d known years ago that she’d only have 62 short years to live. Sobering thought.
Aside from those things, it’s been a positive week. While I haven’t seen the number of event confirmations that I’d like to see, the caliber has been exceptional. It looks like we’ve nabbed another major national print article for a client. I can’t tell the details of who or what just yet, but it’s very exciting.
We’ve got several great books due for release in July (which it will BE this time next week – can you imagine??), and several great authors who are touring despite the heat and the economy.
We’re locking down details on another Criminal Pursuits workshop for November 6 – 7, 2009 and are really excited about that! Watch the website for more info in the next week and don’t wait to register if you want to come. We’re doing a little more hands-on this time, with several police officers in the mix and we’re keeping it small so registration is likely to fill up quickly.
I’ll also be speaking at a writers workshop at the Denton Public Library in Denton Texas Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 9 AM. I’d love to see any of you there! I was delighted to be surprised by Maria when I spoke in Austin a week or so back. Always love the ability to put a name with a face!
I’ve also managed to squeeze in time to read some of my favorite authors’ books that came out this past week: Mind Scrambler by Chris Grabenstein, Trust No One by Gregg Hurwitz, and Finger Lickin’ Fifteen by Janet Evanovich. None disappointed – buy them all!
Till next time,
*waves*
It was great meeting you--learned a lot too and shared it with everyone I know. Well, everyone that reads my blog anyway.
