Last week The Romance Writers of America held their annual conference in New York City at the Marriott, Times Square. During the week there are educational seminars, librarian & bookseller luncheons, and their prestigious RITA Awards ceremony. Winning a RITA is like receiving an Emmy. RWA supports literacy with A book signing open to the public one night.
Continuing talk- Marketing on Social Media platforms is still a high priority with publishers. So much so it is being written into some of the contracts. For myself I jump on Facebook when I have a few moments available and realize I spend 20-30 minutes responding to a few posts, etc. I image as an author to post a preorder reminder, book photo with script, or offer a giveaway that you'll be spending much time maintaining all the Social Media sites. Taking away valuable time from your writing....are they proving to be successful and profitable?
Pinterest, Twitter, Google and Goodreads are other platform sites requested to be maintained. I would think that would eat up 10 hours of your week? Though it is said to be the best free marketing tool out there.
