Hanukkah Gelt by T. Lee Harris

I've read some of T. Lee Harris’s Egyptian tales and liked them a lot, but Hanukkah Gelt is the first of her mysteries that I’ve read. It was very enjoyable and I’m sure I’ll read more of her Josh Katzen stories. The Egyptian books feature cats and the background of this short piece also includes cats – I do suspect that all of Harris’s books have felines somewhere in them, a definite plus for cat people! Also, since I have an interest in both Judaism and archaeology, I like the idea of a Jewish archaeologist/detective. A bit of parallelism also struck me – the Hanukkah gelt is fake gold (although benevolent) and the artifact is – well, it may be real gold, but it’s still fake and far from benevolent! Five stars because it’s a good example of the short mystery genre.
