First: Our most fervent hopes that everyone in the path of the recent terrible storms is okay and that life will return to normal soon.
But now a bittersweet announcement: Every day here at DEAD GUY we try to bring you something that can add to your day. Most often that something has to do with crime fiction publishing, as our lineup of bloggers has been constructed to know about that category. And over the past 10 we have done our best to provide every possible viewpoint on the subject.
But, as they say, whoever they are, all good things (and the rotten ones too, truth be known) must come to an end.
As much as we've all loved being DEAD GUY bloggers, we've agreed it's time to close the proverbial doors around here. Coming up with useful, entertaining content every day has gotten to be a little too much after all this time and we want to go out while we're still at the top of our game.
So the December 31 post will be the last one here at DEAD GUY. While it's a little sad to think this is coming to a close, we prefer to focus on the idea that we've done good work here, people have enjoyed it, and we've kept it going since January 2007, which ain't bad.
The cast of characters has changed over the years, but never the mission: To provide perspective on writing, publishing, reading, editing, promoting and enjoying books, mostly in the crime fiction area. We're all still committed to that concept and we'll keep expressing our opinions when we feel they're relevant. Just not here at DEAD GUY after 2017 becomes 2018.
In the ensuing months, please know we'll keep posting as we have before, so don't tune us out of your daily web scan just yet. And along the way, we'll be hearing from some DEAD GUY alums who have graciously agreed to come back for one more visit before the lights are put out and we group-hug our way to the end of the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Keep reading. That's what this has always been about.
sigh. you will be missed.

Thank you, Dru! We won’t be a fixture here, but I’m sure at least a couple of us will be seen elsewhere from time to time.

We don’t want anyone to be sad. It’s better for us to stop now than to keep going and let the blog deteriorate. It’s just time, is all.

Sorry to hear this - but this means you all spend more time writing fantastic stories :D

It will be sad to not have this blog to visit several times a week, but I can certainly understand the desire to go out while you all are still enjoying it.
Blogging is a tough road and only works when all those involved have the time to devote to it. Each of you have so much going on, we should be be thankful that you continued as long as you did.
Looking forward to the next few months of content and wishing everyone the best!

There's a lyric, I think that goes,
"goodbye, old friend, it's time to say goodnight."
I forget the rest, but I sincerely hope I'll see you down the road apiece.

Oh, gosh; I hate change! How will I know when you folks have new books coming out? What will I read when I get home from work instead of this blog?
Sighing...

I hate to see a reliable source come to an end, but ten years is a record to be proud of. Good luck in your future endeavors.
