This is Chris Nickson, in for Lynne again.
I received a couple of lights raps on the knuckles after last week – including one from Lynne – for talking about promotion and then not doing any of it on here.
Weeell…it’s true. I didn’t. And I know, you should use every single opportunity to promote your work. Guilty as charged.
But in mitigation, I didn’t know this blog was a platform for that, and as a guest I certainly didn’t want to overstep the proprieties of the place. I’m just here to fill in for one of the regulars, nothing more.
Having been chastised, though, I’ll do the little bit of promotion. After all, this week has seen the publication in the UK of my new novel, Free From All Danger. It’s the seventh in my series featuring Richard Nottingham Constable of Leeds in the 1730s. And Richard was a real person, although these stories may be just the tiniest bit fictional.
I write historical crime, much of it set in Leeds, my hometown, and the place to which I returned four years ago. My books cover a span from 1731 to 1957. Different series, different portraits of a place that features as a character. I do also have novels set in medieval Chesterfield and 1980s/09s Seattle (where I spent 20 years and worked as a music journalist).
Did I mention that you can buy these books, as well as borrowing them from a library? No? Well, you can. There are 22 of them out there. Traditionally published, not indie, for whatever that matters.
The full list is available on my website, www.chrisnickson.co.uk – and they’re all globally available. Free From All Danger will be available in the US, and everywhere on ebook, from February 1, 2018.
Did I say you can buy them? Oh, yes I did.
So that’s the promotion bit done.
I wasn't chastising - just didn't want you to miss out on an opportunity while my Thursdays are tied up and you're being such a friend covering them for me!
